A brand wants usage rights for my UGC video. What does that mean and should I charge more?

Usage rights let a brand use your content beyond your own page, like running it as a paid ad. That is worth real money, so charge extra. Price by where they run it and for how long. A common add is 30 to 50 percent on top of your content fee per platform per term. Always put the scope in writing.

What usage rights cover

Usage is separate from the content fee. You are licensing, not selling.

Organic vs paid use

Posting on their page differs from paid ads. Paid costs more.

Price by scope and term

Charge per platform and per time window, not one flat fee.

Put it in writing

Define platforms, length and territory so it cannot creep.

I quote content and usage as two lines. Brands respect it and it stops scope creep where one video runs as ads for a year.

Whitelisting is usage on your handle. Charge more for that since it is your name on their ad spend.

Always cap the term. 90 days renewable beats perpetual. Perpetual usage for a flat fee is a trap.
