Campaign break-even calculator

A campaign does not pay for itself at the fee: it pays for itself at the margin. Enter the fee, your average order value, your gross margin and your conversion rate to see the units and revenue the campaign has to produce before it is in profit.

FAQ

Campaign break-even FAQ

Units are the fee divided by the gross margin per order, rounded up. A $2,500 fee against a $68 order value at 55% margin needs 67 orders, because each order contributes $37.40 of margin. Revenue needed is those units multiplied by order value, and engaged visitors are the units divided by your conversion rate.
Because revenue does not pay the fee, margin does. A campaign that produces $4,556 of revenue on a 55% margin has produced $2,506 of gross margin, which only just covers a $2,500 fee. Judging the same campaign on revenue alone makes it look like a 1.8x return when it is actually break-even.
Yes. Enter everything the campaign costs you: the creator fee, the cost of any product gifted, shipping, and anything paid for usage rights or paid amplification. Those are real costs against the same margin, and leaving them out understates the break-even point by exactly their amount.
Not necessarily, and this is why the tool reports ROAS at break-even as well. A campaign that breaks even on first orders but produces content you can use in paid media, or customers who order again, can be worth running. What it should not do is break even while being counted as a success on revenue.
