Likes-to-followers ratio FAQ
It depends on size, and we measured it rather than guessing. The middle half of accounts under 10K sits between 0.82% and 4.18%, with a median of 1.88%. For 10K-100K it is 0.44% to 3.23%, median 1.26%. Above 100K it is 0.46% to 3.83%, median 1.40%. The Instagram median across all 97,893 measured profiles is 1.48%.
No, but it is the strongest single signal. A ratio in the bottom tenth of a tier usually means one of two things: bought followers, or a real audience that stopped engaging. Both matter to a brand, and neither is visible from follower count alone. A fake-follower check separates them.
Engagement rate adds comments to the numerator. This page reports likes only, because likes are the part of engagement easiest to buy and therefore the part most worth isolating. The breakdown shows what engagement rate your likes imply once comments are added at the measured median of 4.82 comments per 100 likes.
It can be worth a second look. An extremely high likes-to-followers ratio on a small account is sometimes genuine and sometimes an engagement pod or a bought-likes service, which inflates likes without inflating followers. The top tenth of each tier starts at 8.57% for nano, 7.71% for micro and 9.31% for macro accounts.
