Views, if you are comparing against a figure you found somewhere else, because that is the convention almost every published TikTok benchmark uses. Followers, if you are comparing TikTok against an Instagram account, because Instagram engagement is conventionally computed over followers and a view-based number is not comparable to it. This page prints both so you can pick the right one rather than discovering later that you compared two different metrics.
Because our index computes TikTok engagement over followers and the published convention is over views, so our figure and the figure a visitor would find elsewhere are not the same measurement. Publishing ours as "the TikTok engagement rate" would invite exactly that confusion, and the gap between the two is wide enough to change a decision. It is a presentation decision, not an empty table, and we would rather say which it is.
No. It is an industry estimate carried over from published sources. You can tell our estimates from our measurements anywhere on this site by two things: an estimate carries no sample size and no link to our methodology page, and a measurement carries both. The band on this page has neither, deliberately.
This calculator adds likes, comments and shares. Some published figures add saves as well, and a few add watch-through or profile visits, which is one reason TikTok benchmarks vary so widely between sources. If you are comparing against a specific published number, check what it counted before you decide you are ahead or behind it.
