The fee multiplied by the fake-follower share. If you paid $2,500 against 50,000 followers and 18% of those followers are fake, then $450 of the fee was paid against 9,000 accounts that cannot see, click or buy. The remaining $2,050 bought reach to 41,000 real followers, which is a true cost of $60.98 per thousand rather than the $50 the quoted count implies.
A check on that specific account. A tier-wide or niche-wide average is the wrong input here, because the whole point of the calculation is the gap between one creator’s quoted count and their real one. Our fake follower checker returns a measured share for a single handle.
We do not publish one, deliberately. A measured distribution of fake-follower shares would need a consistent detection method applied across the whole index and recorded as a field, and we do not hold that. What we do publish, measured, is the engagement rate distribution, which is the strongest public signal that a count is inflated.
Not by itself. A creator with 18% fake followers may still deliver, if the real audience is well matched and engaged. The number this page gives you is the true cost per thousand real followers, which is the figure to compare across creators. A high fake share with strong engagement among the rest can still be a better deal than a clean account with a disengaged audience.
